The last time I mentioned the Nine Patch Quilt, the top was finished and ready to be prepared for quilting. That took longer than expected, because it was set aside while I worked on a more important project: my grandson’s quilt.
But once that was finished, it was time to return to the Nine Patch Quilt top, and it was taken out of its hiding place and finally prepared for quilting.

I was hoping to be able to join together pieces of fabric from my stash for the backing, but unfortunately, I didn’t have enough suitable fabric.
A quick trip to Spotlight solved that problem and with help(?) from the cat, it was pinned and ready to quilt.
For the quilting, I decided to keep it simple and quilt in-the-ditch of the seams. It was quick to do, and I’m pleased with the outcome.

For the binding, I tried a number of fabrics from my stash, but in the end settled on a dark pink fabric. I’m pleased with that too.
The finished size is 45 ½” square. Really pleased with how it turned out.

It will be sent to Knit4Charities, and I pray that it will be a blessing to whoever receives it.
Walking on Water…
I love the way the story of Jesus walking on water is portrayed in the TV series The Chosen. It captures the storm, the waves, the tiredness of the disciples, and their confusion and fear when they see Him walking towards them across the waves.
The account in Mark 6:45-52, is preceded by two other stories. Firstly, Jesus sends out the twelve disciples two by two to minister, telling them not to take any money, clothes or supplies with the expectation that God will supply their needs. (Mark 6:7-13). Secondly, after Jesus has been teaching a large crowd all day, the disciples told him to send the crowd away so they could get something to eat. Jesus answered them, “You give them something to eat.” (Mark 6:37) After protesting that they have nothing to feed them with, Jesus transforms the food they do have, five loaves and two fish, into enough food to feed more than five thousand people.
The disciples had seen God provide for them on their ministry journey, and they had seen Jesus miraculous feed a crowd of over five thousand people with only five loaves and two fish, and yet why were they completely amazed when Jesus walked on the water?
The Bible says it was because “they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.” (Mark 6:51-52)
The disciples were tired, they were rowing a boat across a lake, in a fierce storm, battling against huge waves, after just spending a day ministering to a huge crowd with Jesus, worrying about how to feed them. They were so pre-occupied with their responsibilities and physical activity, that they failed to see Jesus and what He was doing amongst them.
Sound familiar? It does to me. I can get so busy in my daily activities and responsibilities, it’s like rowing a boat in the storm in my own strength and its exhausting. I forget the miracles that Jesus has already done in my life, how He provides for my needs, and I don’t wait in expectation for Him to do it again.
My prayer today is that the Lord will hold me back from overactivity that keeps me so busy and exhausted that it stops me from seeing the miracles that He has worked in my life daily through His Son Jesus. I pray that He will help me to keep His priorities before me and that I don’t get sidetracked by daily activities that sap my energy and keep my eyes from Him.
The disciples were terrified when they saw Jesus walk towards them. Mark 6:50-51 says: “Immediately He spoke to them and said: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down.”
I don’t have to face life’s storms alone. I pray that my heart will always be open to the peace that Jesus offers me when I trust Him to quieten the storms around me.
