Nine Patch Quilt in progress

For the borders of my Nine Patch Quilt, I stuck to the original plan of having a narrow inside border and a pieced outside border.

the quilt borders

I used a white fabric with small blue dots for the inside border, cut 2″ wide (finished size is 1 ½”).

For the outside border, I cut 3 ½” squares of the fabric used for the blocks – 56 in total.

I didn’t want fabrics leftover from making the quilt to return to my stash, so in the process of cutting the border pieces, I cut the remaining fabric into 5” squares with a plan to make another scrappy quilt sometime in the future.

Now, the quilt top needs to be prepared for quilting. I’m hoping to be able to join together pieces of stash fabric for the backing but I’m not sure if I have enough suitable pieces.  Will see how it goes.

Praise with Abandon …

I’m not a soccer fan, but it’s hard to miss the World Cup. The other day, on my IG feed, I was fascinated by a vision of the Scottish fans with quite a few wearing kilts, arriving at their country’s match against Haiti (I think) in Boston lead by a group playing bagpipes. Then, in the stadium they sang with gusto The Flower of Scotland. It was breath-taking. The pride, and passion were so evident, it actually brought tears to my eyes. And the Scots aren’t alone in their enthusiasm; have you seen the Norway’s fans with their Viking chant? Amazing.

If Soccer fans can show their support for their teams so unashamedly, how much more should believers show their praise and worship to their Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ?

Remember King David who danced before the Lord when he was bringing the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem?

“Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sounds of trumpets.” (2Sam 6:14-15)

David wasn’t reserved, afraid to raise his hands in words, or worried about offending people but worshipped with joyfully with abandon. When his wife criticised him for his undignified behaviour, David replied: “I celebrate before the Lord.” (2Sam 6:21) and was not seeking approval from others.

Let’s do the same and throw off everything that hinders our worship and lift up the name of Jesus with joyful abandonment.

“Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives our sins and heals all our diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like an eagle’s.” (Ps 103:1-5)

Until next time
