The last project of the Summer of Stitching with the Bakery Bears, the Chim Chim Cher-ee Socks are finished – a little bit late but finished.
Designed by Kay Jones, the socks have a textured pattern which represents the chimneys across the city. Remember that scene in the Mary Poppins movie with the chimney sweeps on the roofs? I think that’s what Kay had in mind.
The socks have a couple of rows of contrast yarn around the cuff, and the rest are knit in the one colour. In my version, the contrast is dark purple and main colour a variegated purple yarn. The pattern is a 6 row repeat which was easy to memorize making it a nice, relaxing knit.
They were a perfect traveling companion when I went on a short holiday in August.
I came home with the heel of the first sock finished and the foot in progress.

A couple of weeks later, I had a finished pair of socks.
Spring has sprung here in the National Capital and the cold weather is slowly disappearing so I haven’t had a chance to wear my Chim Chim Cher-ee Socks yet, but it will be nice to start next Winter with a new pair of socks.
I’ve enjoyed all the projects in this year’s Summer of Stitching and look forward to seeing what Kay has planned for us in 2027.
Still God …
Hebrews 13:8 says: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
It’s a promise, that in the midst of changes, uncertainty, and disasters, we can trust in and rely on Jesus because He was, He is, and He is to come. His nature, love, power, and faithfulness remain constant, we can rely on His teachings and promises for every generation.
