Rhapsody Socks – finished

The Rhapsody Socks were a very quick knit (for me), helped by the fact that I was on a deadline to finish for Mother’s Day. I wanted to give them to my daughter-in-law, Sarah who is a wonderful mother to my two beautiful grandchildren.

Fortunately, the pattern by Kay Jones of Bakery Bears was, as with all her patterns, easy to follow and the yarn by Obsession yarn is so soft and plump, making the project a joy to work on. Not only that, but I’ve made socks for Sarah before, so I know how she likes them.

As a result, the Rhapsody Socks turned out beautifully and were very well received.

Sarah put them on as soon as she opened her gift – always a good sign!

Incoming Yarn…

I’m planning to make a quilt for my grandson Alfie, and the other day I visited my local Hobbysew store to purchase some fabric.

Hobbysew doesn’t only sell fabric but yarn as well. In particular, hand-dyed sock yarn by a favourite local dyer SockWorthy yarn. It seems to be the only store that sells this yarn and even then, there is only ever a limited quantity available. I always look for it whenever I’m in the store and I was in luck the other day. Not only did they have a few skeins but one that caught my eye.

It’s a lovely multi-coloured yarn that I think will be perfect for a cowl. The colours will be sure to brighten up a dull Winter’s day.

The yarn itself, is very soft and lovely to knit with. I’ve made a few pairs of socks with it and have never been disappointed with the quality or colours.

By the way, I did manage to find some fabric that will be perfect for Alfie’s quilt – more on that later.

Busy, Busy …

I love the Lord and am so grateful for the new life He has given me through His Son, Jesus Christ.

I can never repay Him for that gift of Grace but every now and then I lose sight of the fact that it is ‘by grace’ and find myself working hard trying to please God. For example, I start trying to change myself into His image instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to do His work in me; I serve Him at church, not being able to say ‘no’ to requests even when I’m overloaded. All the time doing what I think I should do instead of asking God what He wants me to do.

I was reminded of this recently when I was looking back through my journal and saw way back in 2016 how my tiredness prompted me to ask God for help.  His response was John 6: 28-29 when Jesus was asked by His disciples: “What must we do to do the works that God requires?” and Jesus answered: “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

It seems that I’m still learning that God just wants my heart. My service to Him comes from my love for Him and He will lead me in His perfect Will “…to do the good works, which God created in advance for us to do.” (Eph 2:10)

Thank You Lord.

Until next time,

Keep Creating,

Lyn
