Rhapsody Socks

My daughter-in-law Sarah appreciates hand knitted socks (Yeah!). I first knit her a pair two years ago, not sure if she would like them or not. She loved them and wore them constantly during Winter. Last year I followed up with another pair, and this year I’m planning to keep up the tradition and knit some more.

Angel Project Bag for the Mermaid Socks

I already had the yarn in my stash purchased from the Australian Yarn Show in 2025. It is sock yarn (80% merino, 20% nylon) from a local Canberra dyer, Obsession Yarn in a pretty blue with some pink highlights.

Also in my stash, was 20g of a pink sparkly sock yarn from My Creative Garage which should look nice on the heels and perhaps toes (will decide on toes when I get there).

The project bag I’m using, is my Angel bag which may look Christmassy, but who doesn’t need an angel all year round?

Look at the zipper pull made by my grandson Alfie.  It’s made from those beads you arrange and then iron into place. He was obsessed with them for a while.

For the pattern I chose another from my favourite sock designer, Kay Jones of Bakery Bears, called Rhapsody Socks. It’s a simple repeat design which suits the yarn.

For the needles, I’m knitting with my favourite DPNs and so far, the first sock is growing well!

Fragrance of Christ …

The Bible says: “But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.” (2 Corinthians 2:14)

This verse always captures my imagination.

In the Old Testament, when a King returned victoriously from battle, he and his conquering army, proudly rode through the town with the enemies they had captured following behind. Everyone came out to celebrate their victory over the enemy.

The same celebration awaits us when we become followers of Christ. God leads us in ‘triumphal procession in Christ’, celebrating His victory over our enemies of sin, and death.

Not only that but He uses us to spread the ‘fragrance of the knowledge of him” wherever we go.

A fragrance gets into dark places where we can’t reach; it fills the senses; it lingers when we leave; it sticks to clothes etc.; it’s pleasant. People start looking for its origin; they want to know what it is and want it for themselves.

So, next time when you are about to walk into a room or situation and are feeling unsure, lift up your head, push back your shoulders, and walk with the assurance of someone carrying something special knowing that your presence is going to change the atmosphere.

Unitl next time,

Lyn
