Two months after it was started, the Wild Wood Shawl is finished. How good is it?

I’m actually proud of myself because it’s one of the biggest knitting projects I’ve made.
For the last few years, I’ve made smaller projects like socks, shawls, and kids’ jumpers but nothing rivalling the Wild Wood Shawl. The finished size 70” wide and 34” deep; perfect size for snuggling in on a cold Winter’s night while reading in bed.
Yarn…
I used Bendigo Woollen Mills Classic 8 ply 100% superwash wool. I purchased one 200 gram ball of each of the five colours and have leftovers of each – less of the red and silver but of the others probably ¼ ball of each.
Favourite bits…
The pattern by Kay Jones of Bakery Bears, is super-easy to follow and she even had video tutorials to help along the way. My favourite parts are the colour change detail between the stripes, and the lacy border.

Ready for Winter…
One of my knitting goals this year was to make a Reading Shawl, so I can tick that off my list and at the just right time too. Autumn has just begun in the Capital, and the evenings have started to cool down. I will probably get to use the shawl sooner than I like. (I’m still a Queenslander at heart.)
Reading my tears…
I recall a time when one of my sons was going through a seemingly hopeless situation which had brought him low and he was struggling to get back up again. It broke my heart because there wasn’t anything I could do to help him. I started to pray and all I could say was “O Lord” before the tears started to flow unchecked, because I had no words to express my pain and fear. But I didn’t need any because God can read my tears and after that night, things turned around for my son and he started the long, difficult road back to life. I’m forever grateful.
Psalm38:9 (TPT) says: “Lord you know all my desires and deepest longings. My tears are liquid words and you can read them all.”
Until next time
Lyn
